Microsoft has announced that it will stop support for Windows Phone 8.1.
The company has said that users will be able to use their Windows Phone 8.1, even after support ends, however, there will not be further updates or fixes to the operating system.
Such a thing would leave, of course, Windows Phone 8.1 devices exposed to bugs, security threats, etc. suggesting that it is better to move to Windows 10 Mobile or to another platform altogether.
Windows 10 Mobile is of course the future for the company’s mobile platform plans and will regularly receive updates.
Windows Phone 8.1 support termination comes after 3 years from its launch. For this reason experts worry that Windows 10 Mobile might also follow the same path in a couple of years, for the sake of a new Surface branded mobile platform.
